Gentleman's Ride 2017

Five years ago a movement was born. In 2012, hundreds of motorcycle riders across the globe came together to unite as one to fight the generally negative stereotype of the man on the motorcycle. The huge amount of support and success that came from the inaugural Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride led to an idea of making the event about more than just getting together and riding motorcycles.

The following year a fund was setup to benefit prostate cancer research. Over the course of the next 4 years, roughly 8 million dollars was raised for the cause. In 2016, Men’s Mental Health was added to the docket. In that year alone 3.6 million dollars was raised for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health in conjunction with the Movember Foundation.

With 4.8 million dollars raised of a 5 million dollar goal for 2017, the ride has brought in its greatest amount of support yet. The official date for this year was September 24th with satellite rides taking place all over the world on surrounding dates.

The first weekend of October gave way to my local gentleman’s ride, which was made possible by the tremendous support of local vintage motorcycle organization, Tri-State Vin Moto. It was through their efforts that roughly 12 thousand dollars was raised for the cause. Started in 2013, Tri-State Vin Moto has been steadily growing the vintage motorcycle scene in the area. They hold monthly meetings and rides throughout the season.

Unfortunately, I did not have a bike road ready (as always) but I was able attend and capture some photographs.
